Species: Stock dove

Stock doves are found in large numbers in rural areas across Central and Western Europe; they are particularly numerous in agricultural regions where there is a ready source of seeds and grains. They form simple nests in holes in trees or buildings and can raise several broods each year. Stock doves can be distinguished from wood pigeons by their diminutive size and the absence of white stripes on the wings.

There is more information about the Stock dove (Columba oenas) available on the website of the RSPB.
